Joe McMahon — Executive Vice President: Business Development

Mr. McMahon is an accomplished executive manager with 30 years of experience as a business owner, business developer, senior executive, and advisor to senior management. He is an Executive Vice President with Ventera, with corporate-level responsibility for sales and marketing. Joe’s primary objective is to grow the firm’s top line revenue by directing effective marketing and sales initiatives. In addition to pursuing his own specific initiatives, he also supports business development initiatives in the company’s business units (BU), working closely with the leads of each BU to strengthen their business development efforts. Joe’s success at building long-term relationships with a wide range of contacts has been one of the keys to Ventera’s growth.

Mr. McMahon started his career in consulting with the McLean Group, a small business delivering IT and management consulting services to the federal government and commercial markets. Mr. McMahon was responsible for selling and delivering business strategy and operations improvement consulting services to senior management in the financial services industry and the federal government. He was an integral member of a core leadership team that was responsible for growing the business from a one-location, four-person entity to a ninety-person organization with operations in Virginia, New York, and the United Kingdom.

Spending over eight years with McLean Group, Mr. Mahon rose from Associate to Vice President/Principal-in-charge of the New York practice and was instrumental in facilitating the sale of the company to a Big-6 consulting firm. Earlier in his career Joe was the co-founder and President of The Virginia Brewing Company, where he managed the profitable day-to-day operations of the company. Joe was responsible for business profit and loss, product development, marketing and sales, development of a distribution network, and other operational activities. Under his leadership, the company was profitable within 11 months of start-up and eventually was sold to an investor group.

Immediately prior to joining Ventera, Mr. McMahon was the Director of Marketing and Business Development with Perspective Technology Corporation, where he was responsible for all new business capture strategies and for managing, mentoring, and motivating the business development team.

Prior to Perspective Technology, Mr. Mahon was a Senior Manager and Director at Coopers & Lybrand Consulting, where he sold and delivered value-added solutions to executive management. He was accountable for profitable execution and nurturing client relationships. Over 5 years, Joe sold several multi-million dollar engagements to Fortune 200 businesses and successfully managed more than three dozen engagements on schedule and within budget.

Joe earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Washington and Lee University. He lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife, Cindy and two children. He enjoys golf and being outdoors, and volunteers his time to many youth sports groups as well as local charitable organizations.
