Leadership TeamJeff Smith — Executive Vice President: Government Services
Mr. Smith is Executive Vice President at Ventera, and an experienced leader in the technology consulting field. He has 18 years of experience in program and project management, with specialized experience in structured systems life cycle development, and business process modeling and redesign.
As the leader of Ventera’s Government Services business unit, he provides day-to-day guidance to project managers serving government customers and has lead responsibility for all business development in the business unit. He serves as the primary liaison to government programs and contracts managers and is ultimately responsible for the quality of services and deliverables the company provides. Mr. Smith conducts regular project reviews and reports on contract and project status to Ventera’s CEO. He also establishes and enhances relationships with existing and potential future customers, as well as with prime contractors and subcontractors with whom Ventera conducts business. He develops and implements the organization’s business development plan, and leads proposal planning and development activities. As part of Ventera’s executive management team, Mr. Smith helps to set the company’s strategic agenda and corporate strategy for solution delivery and sales.
In previous positions with Ventera, Jeff worked with numerous clients as client manager and project manager, including Citibank, USDA, Fannie Mae, Delex, and others. He helped build annual revenues from $0 to more than $5M and has led a number of projects including a major software application development project for USDA, converting legacy information systems to web-based systems for Fannie Mae, and developing a strategic business plan for a web-based eCommerce business.
Prior to joining Ventera, Mr. Smith was a principal and Chief Technology Officer at The Prometheus Company, a management consulting company of more than 80 consultants. While there, he led the technology consulting practice and managed the company’s corporate technology assets. Prior to Prometheus, he was with Coopers & Lybrand, and IBM, where he was responsible for implementing technology solutions for clients.
Mr. Smith received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University in March 1985. Additionally, he was awarded an MBA in August 1988, also from Auburn University.
