Ventera Supports NVFS Back-To-School Drive

Hundreds of dollars of school supplies donated

Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) is the leading source of help for families in need in Northern Virginia. Founded in 1924, NVFS programs encourage, teach, and empower people to improve their lives. Each August, NVFS collects much-needed school supplies to over 300 needy children. The Drive provides these children with the necessary materials to start the year off right and become successful students. Each child will receive a backpack full of basic school supplies such as paper, pencils, crayons, and markers.

This year, Ventera was a bit late in getting started. But in less than a week, employees donated more than $350 in cash and supplies. The company added $200 to that, for a total of $550.

Stephen Fischer, a Senior Consultant at Ventera organized the drive within the company. Along with other volunteers, he collected donations and supplies, used the cash to purchase additional supplies, and delivered everything to NVFS's Oakton office. Stephen said "This activity reminded me of Ventera's response to Hurricane Katrina victims two years ago. We just put the word out that there were people in need, and our folks came through. Part of the company's Vision Statement includes serving the community. This is a really great example of that."
