Ventera And Employees Donate More Than $17,000 To Aid Victims Of Hurricane Katrina

McLean, VA - September 27, 2005 -- Within days after Hurricane Katrina made landfall on the Gulf coast, Ventera Corporation, a small regional information technology business, announced to its employees that the company would match their contributions to help hurricane victims, setting a goal of $5,000. Eager to provide the greatest possible support, the company said it would match donations already made, and opened the program not only to employees, but also to former employees and contractors.

Ten days later, the results exceeded expectations. Some 40 people had contributed $8,574, averaging more than $200 each. With the company's match, the total donations came to more than $17,000, the majority of which went to the Red Cross.

Robert Acosta, Ventera's founder and CEO, was ecstatic about the results: "Community Service has always been a big priority at Ventera. This program was actually suggested by an employee, and an hour after the suggestion was made we sent out an e-mail announcing it to everyone. We're thrilled at the response, and that we can do a little something to help."
