Ventera to Help U.S. Institute for Peace Organize Extensive Database of Contacts

Project will help USIP communicate more effectively with wide range of audiences

Ventera Corporation has been selected as part of the winning team to help the United States Institute for Peace (USIP) manage contact information on their constituents who include members of Congress and their staffs, people in academia and at federal agencies, USIP alumni, fellows, peace scholars, and others. USIP is an independent, nonpartisan institution whose mission is to promote peace worldwide.

USIP uses a system called CPS - Contact Profile System that the organization says is no longer meeting its needs. Ventera will play a lead role in investigating and recommending alternatives for enhancing or replacing CPS.

The team will perform this project in several phases. Initially Ventera will help to evaluate the capabilities of the existing system, meet with users and stakeholders to confirm their needs, and identify and assess current best practices in contact management. The team will then look at a range of options, which may include "fixing" CPS; building a new custom application to meet USIP's needs; or select, purchase, and implement a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) contact management product. With USIP's approval, the team will design and implement the selected option, develop a data maintenance process to keep the system up-to-date, provide user training, and roll out the new/enhanced system to users.

When completed, the new system will provide USIP with a user-friendly, centralized system that is secure and reliable.

Under Ventera's direction, the project team will use the industry-standard Rational Unified Process (RUP) software development methodology to perform the work on this project. Ventera uses RUP on all projects, and adapts it to each customer's environment.
