Ventera CFO Wheatley Wins SmartCEO Magazine's Profiles of Financial Excellence Award

McLean, VA - April 17, 2007 - Washington SmartCEO Magazine has named Charles Wheatley, Ventera's chief financial officer among the first ever winners of its "Profiles of Financial Excellence Award." The accolade recognizes Greater Washington's Top 10 Smart CFOs. In describing the award, SmartCFO said that ".creating financial plans, getting a company through a merger of acquisition, and being a business strategist, all while demonstrating high ethics and morality, are what make these chief financial officers so crucial to their companies."

Wheatley joined Ventera in 2001, serving as the company's first CFO, or financial manager of any kind. The year before had seen the bursting of the dot-com bubble, which had a significant impact on many of Ventera's customers, including driving some out of business. Wheatley steered Ventera through the resulting storm by establishing and managing several banking relationships; bringing rigor to the company's financial planning, project financial tracking, and strategic planning; engaging potential investors to bring cash to the company; and expertly managing receivables and cash flow.

Once he had stabilized Ventera's finances, Wheatley set about strengthening the company's financial infrastructure. He developed a number of financial management models that the company still uses today (with revenue of more than $30 million), led the identification and selection of a more robust accounting system for the company, and then led the transition to the new system.

On top of his financial accomplishments, Charles also runs the company's corporate IT infrastructure, all administrative support, contracts, security, and facilities. He serves as Ventera's ethics officer, security officer, and compliance officer.

Charles Wheatley holds an MBA from The Darden School at The University of Virginia, and a BS, Accounting, from Brigham Young University. He is also an active participant and leader in his church.
