T-Mobile

InSite SOA Interfaces

Customer Challenge:

When T-Mobile launched its newly modernized cell site management application, T-Mobile was faced with the challenge of managing more than 30 data integration points that existed between InSite and other applications within the T-Mobile environment.

What we did:

Using a SOA approach, Ventera implemented a set of services that replaced the network of tightly coupled systems that existed within the T-Mobile Enterprise relating to the legacy InSite application. All point to point communication was replaced by leveraging an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) that acted as both the publisher of schemas as services to other systems and the consumer of services from existing systems.

Results:
  • Interoperability was achieved by leveraging a single, common and consistent interface implementation in the form of XML messages to provide data consistency and integrity across different subscribing applications.
  • Some of the subscribing applications were implemented on disparate technologies including Java applications, affording T-Mobile the advantage of exploiting existing investments in legacy applications.
  • InSite performance, reliability, data integrity, scalability, and maintainability all were enhanced as a result of this effort.
  • T-Mobile now has a mature, proven ESB platform to leverage for future data integration efforts.
